Tremendous performance at Bristol last night. Worth the 30-year wait and the trip over from Cardiff.
I was astounded to see good you were. And to see my mate playing bass in one of the support bands - a pleasant surprise.
At one point, Pauline wondered aloud why the band were still doing it but the night was a fantastic indication of what a great band Penetration were and still are.
Band's stamina was impressive, Pauline's still got a fine pair of lungs.
And great teeth.
Please come to South Wales soon. And great teeth.

Penetration - Talking Heads Southampton Fri 17th April 2009 This was going to be my fourth time seeing Penetration, and after seeing them last at Rebeillion just before christmas last year where I really enjoyed their set, I was really looking forward to seeing them again at a small local venue. Two local Southampton bands were on first, the Good Time Charlies and the Flying Alexanders... both bands got the crowd going, and played for about 45 mins each. The best of the two were the Good Time Charlies. Anyway it was nearly 11 oclock when Penetration came on.. nearly past my bedtime... yep I'm getting old...the band appeared on stage first of all... and then Pauline appeared right next to me, telling me that she wanted the band to start playing before she made her entrance onto the stage... I wished her a really good gig, and on she went... Penetration started off with Shelleys Nostalgia, then into Lovers of outrage, and right from the start I was thinking this was going to be one of those tremendous gigs... and so it proved... Paulines voice is so much better in a smaller packed venue, where she can interact with the audience, and doesn't she still look fantastic... wow.. She came right to the front of the crowd so many times, standing on a table in front of the stage with everyone all around her, and seemed to be really enjoying it... of course the front was packed with people jumping up and down, and really enjoying it. Anyway next up was Our World, followed by Lifes a Gamble, Feeling, Guilty, Sea Song, Movement, Free Money which starts off slowly and then builds up for a lot of jumping up and down...., Next up was Silent Community and then my favourite Pentration song which saw the whole place going crazy... Don't Dictate.. wow.. what a good version they played... the sound all night was really good, with smoke being bellowed out onto the stage every now and then.. just added to the atmosphere... Then it was on to Come into the Open, and then onto the last song of the set Shout above the Noise. Now the Talking Heads is such a small venue, that the band have to walk through the crowd to get back to their dressing room... so Pauline and the band decided to stay on stage and have a quick rest, and a drink before their encore of Danger Signs, and then finally a great version of Firing Squad... before the band dissapeared off stage.. At the end I was tired out with all the jumping around, but realised I had witnessed a really good gig, the band were tight, and the sound was good, and Pauline vocals came across really good, she does have a really good voice... Penetration are so much better in a smaller venue.. and to think I saw that gig for 9 pounds and 35 pence... I know they only played an hour in total... and didn't it go fast I wanted more... shame they didn't play Stone Heroes.. but they can't play everything... and to cap it off the t-shirts were only a tenner.... Well done Penetration.. an excellent cheap gig, with cheap merchandise... in fact I don't normally buy a t-shirt from a gig... but myself and my two mates all bought a Penetration t shirt.. it just shows if you price the mechandise at a good price, people will buy them... will I go and see Penetration again.. too right I will.... if you have the chance to see them in a smaller venue then make sure you do.
